Terms & Conditions
Effective 2026-09-18
These terms govern your use of Katigate (the website at this domain), the Nepali Calendar apps for Android and iOS, and the backend service behind them (together, “the service”). The service is free of charge. By using it you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please stop using the service.
1. What the service does
The service is a free reference and personal-scheduling service based on the Bikram Sambat (BS) calendar. It currently includes:
- BS↔AD date conversion and a calendar view with tithi, holiday, and event annotations.
- Daily panchang for any BS date.
- Daily and per-rashi rashifal.
- Sahit (auspicious-day) lists for major ceremonies.
- Per-account custom events with optional repeat rules and reminders.
- Per-account birthday reminders.
- Per-account kundali generation from your date, time, and place of birth.
- Customizable dashboard layout.
- A feedback channel for bug reports, feature requests, and praise.
Most features are open to anyone (calendar, panchang, rashifal, sahit, holidays, converter, feedback). Personal features (custom events, birthday reminders, kundali, profile, dashboard customization) require a signed-in account.
2. Who can use the service
The service is a calendar and reference tool for a general audience. Individuals and families can use it. If a minor uses any personal feature (kundali, reminders, or any feature tied to an account), a parent or guardian is responsible for that use and for the content created on the minor’s behalf, and accepts these terms on their behalf.
3. Your account
An account is optional and only needed for personal features. You can create one with an email and password or by signing in with Google. You are responsible for:
- Keeping your credentials confidential. Do not share your password or your Google session with anyone.
- The accuracy of the profile data you enter: name, date of birth, place of birth, preferred timezone, rashi. Kundali and rashifal output depend on what you enter.
- Every action taken from your account, including scheduled pushes and content created.
- Closing the account when you are done: open Profile → Delete Account, or contact us through the Feedback page.
We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms, that have been compromised, or that have remained inactive long enough to trigger cleanup.
4. Reference, not authority
Calendar, panchang, rashifal, sahit, and kundali content is provided for reference and convenience. It is not religious, medical, financial, or legal advice and must not be used as the sole basis for ritual, ceremonial, medical, financial, or legal decisions.
- Calendar metadata (events, holidays, tithi) may be re-published or corrected at any time. Government holidays change year to year; almanacs vary by publisher.
- Panchang values are computed from standard astronomical formulae. They are suited to general reference use, not to lagna-level muhurta requirements.
- Rashifal is generated automatically and is provided for entertainment and general reading only. It is not personalized predictive advice.
- Sahit (auspicious-day) lists are best-effort and may differ between traditions. Confirm any major ceremony with a qualified pandit and a trusted almanac before acting.
- Kundali charts are generated from the inputs you provide. Small errors in birth time or place will shift the chart.
- Transit readings (Sade Sati, Dhaiya, and the Saturn, Jupiter, Rahu and Ketu dates) are computed from an ephemeris and the birth details you saved. Dates around a sign change can differ by a day from a printed almanac, and different traditions read the same transit differently.
- Any day-level guidance drawn from your own chart (tara bala, chandra bala, the running dasha) is a mechanical reading of classical rules, not a prediction and not advice. Nothing in it is produced by a person or reviewed by an astrologer.
- Nwaran naming syllables come from the standard Avakahada chakra for the birth nakshatra and its quarter. Families and traditions vary; treat the syllable as a starting point and confirm with your priest.
- We make no warranty that the service will be error-free, uninterrupted, or fit for any specific religious, ceremonial, medical, legal, or financial decision. You use the service at your own discretion.
5. Your content
“Your content” means everything you submit: custom events, birthday reminders, kundali inputs and outputs, dashboard layout, profile fields, and feedback messages.
- You retain ownership of your content. We do not claim any commercial rights over it.
- You grant us a limited, royalty-free license to store and display your content back to you and to use anonymized, aggregate signals to improve the product.
- You are responsible for the legality and accuracy of what you submit. Do not submit illegal, defamatory, hateful, sexually explicit, or harassing content through any field, including event titles, names, kundali labels, or feedback bodies.
- Feedback you submit may be reviewed by our team to triage and respond.
6. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- Scrape, mirror, or republish data from the service without our written consent, or attempt to bypass our rate-limit and security controls.
- Probe, scan, or test the service for vulnerabilities except under an authorized security review you have arranged with us in writing.
- Use the service to send unsolicited messages, attempt credential stuffing, or impersonate another person.
- Reverse engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract source code from the apps beyond what local law permits.
- Use the service in a way that interferes with other users, including by submitting deliberately malformed payloads or by abusing background notifications.
7. Friends, groups and community rules
Friends is for people you actually know, and it is only available to signed-in accounts. By using it you agree to the following. We may remove content, suspend a feature, or terminate an account that breaks these rules:
- Consent is required both ways. A friend request, a family/couple label, and a group invitation all need the other person to accept. Removing a relationship label never needs their approval.
- You may only invite people you know. Group invitations can only be sent to someone who is already your accepted friend.
- No harassment, bullying, threats, impersonation, spam, sexual, hateful, or otherwise objectionable content, and no illegal material.
- Do not attempt to evade a block, including by creating another account.
- You are responsible for the group names and occasion titles you write. These are the only text other members see from you. Links and objectionable terms are rejected.
- Birthday wishes use a fixed list of preset messages. There is no free-text messaging between users, and this is not a chat product.
- Relationship labels and birthday dates are convenience data. They are not proof of any legal relationship, and reminders are not guaranteed to arrive.
- You can report or block anyone at any time, without telling them, and without accepting these terms first. Reports go to our team for review; contact nepaliprogrammer1@gmail.com for support.
If you unfriend or block someone, both sides lose each other's birthdays and reminders, and any couple group is hidden. If a group owner deletes a group, it disappears for every member. Deleting your account removes your friendships, group memberships, and wishes; group occasions created by others remain with their group. Your issued friend code stays permanently reserved so it can never be assigned to another person.
8. Push notifications
If you opt in, we will send push notifications. The current categories are:
- Daily rashifal: once per day at the time you choose in your profile.
- Birthday reminders: anchored to a date you choose; one notification per active reminder per year, plus the lead-time alert if you set one.
- Custom event reminders: fired according to the repeat rule and lead-time you set per event.
- Feedback replies: if our team responds to your submission.
- Occasional product notifications from our team.
You can turn off notifications at any time from your browser or device settings. You can adjust notification language, rashifal time, and per-event settings from Profile and the relevant page.
9. Advertising and monetization
The website displays advertisements served by Google AdSense. We may add other lawful monetization methods in the future. Any future monetization that requires payment from you will be clearly labeled before you commit.
- Google decides which ads are shown to you. We do not control this. We do not pass your account data into the ad request.
- Clicking an ad takes you to a third-party site that we have no control over.
- Where required by law, Google’s consent flows will appear before personalized ads are shown.
10. Third-party services
The service depends on a small number of third parties. Their terms also apply to your use of those parts of the service:
- Google Firebase (Cloud Messaging; Crashlytics on mobile): https://firebase.google.com/terms
- Google Sign-In and Google APIs: https://policies.google.com/terms
- Google AdSense: https://www.google.com/adsense/new/localized-terms
- Google Analytics: https://policies.google.com/terms
- Swiss Ephemeris: used to compute kundali charts; redistribution governed by the Swiss Ephemeris public license.
11. Radio and third-party streams
The app can list publicly available third-party internet radio streams from a station list we maintain ourselves. We do not host, own, or control the audio:
- Station names, logos, and broadcasts belong to their respective owners. Pressing play opens the station’s own public stream. Playback comes from the station’s servers. We do not host it.
- We give no warranty of availability, accuracy, or continuity. Streams may break, change, or disappear at any time, and a station may be removed from the list without notice.
- Rights holders: if you operate a station and want it removed, email nepaliprogrammer1@gmail.com. We remove on request. The list is managed on our server, so removal takes effect without waiting for an app update.
12. Intellectual property
The Katigate and Nepali Calendar names, logos, source code, design system, dictionaries, and the curated/normalized form of public-domain calendar data are owned by us or our licensors. Public-domain elements, including astronomical formulae and the underlying BS↔AD math, remain in the public domain. The value we add is selection, normalization, and presentation. You may not copy, redistribute, or create derivative services from our copyrightable material without permission.
13. Availability and changes
The service is provided “as is” and “as available”, free of charge. We do not commit to a service level agreement. We may add, change, or remove features at any time. We will avoid breaking changes to the public API where reasonable, but cannot guarantee perpetual compatibility.
14. Disclaimer of warranties
To the maximum extent permitted by law, the service is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, whether express, implied, statutory, or otherwise — including, without limitation, the implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, non-infringement, and any warranty arising out of course of dealing or usage of trade. We do not warrant that the service will meet your requirements, be uninterrupted, timely, secure, or error-free, or that any defects will be corrected.
15. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law: we, our team, and our licensors will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, consequential, special, exemplary, or punitive damages arising out of or related to your use of the service — including, without limitation, missed events, wrong muhurta, lost data, loss of profits, or any decision you took based on rashifal, sahit, kundali, panchang, calendar, or holiday information. Because the service is provided free of charge and you pay nothing for it, our total cumulative liability for any and all claims arising out of or related to these terms or the service is zero, and you agree that no monetary remedy is owed by us to you under these terms. Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion or limitation of certain damages; in those jurisdictions our liability is limited to the smallest amount permitted by law.
16. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless the Katigate and Nepali Calendar team from any claim, loss, or expense arising out of your violation of these terms, your misuse of the service, or content you submitted through your account.
17. Termination
You may stop using the service at any time and delete your account from the Profile page. We may suspend or terminate access if you breach these terms, if your account is compromised, or if continuing to provide the service to you would expose us to legal risk. Sections that by their nature should survive termination will survive. These are the accuracy disclaimer, IP, disclaimer of warranties, limitation of liability, indemnification, and governing law.
18. Governing law and disputes
These terms are governed by the laws of Nepal, without regard to conflict-of-laws principles. You agree that any dispute arising out of or relating to these terms or the service will be brought exclusively in the courts seated in Kathmandu, Nepal, unless your local consumer-protection law gives you a non-waivable right to a different forum.
19. Changes to these terms
We may revise these terms. When we do, we will update the effective date at the top of this page and, for material changes, surface a notice in the app. Continued use of the service after the change takes effect means you accept the updated terms.
