The website gives you today's Bikram Sambat date, the month grid, panchang, sahit, holidays and the BS–AD converter, and it always will, without an account. The app is where the personal half of a patro lives: the things that have to remember you, run while the phone is offline, and reach you before the day you care about arrives. It is free on Android and iOS.
Add a birthday, a shraddha, an anniversary or any custom event on a BS date and the app notifies you on that BS date every year, not on the Gregorian date it happened to fall on. Repeat rules cover yearly, monthly, every N days, and tithi-based repeats. The website has no accounts, so it has nowhere to keep any of this.
Today's BS date, the tithi and the next holiday sit on your home screen on both Android and iOS, updated by the phone rather than by opening anything. There is a lock-screen variant on iOS and a resizable month widget on Android.
Birth chart with D1 and D9, whole-sign houses, planet positions, Vimshottari dasha to the antardasha level, and Ashtakoot milan for two charts with the doshas and their parihar. The charts are computed from a real ephemeris, saved to your account, and readable offline once generated. This never shipped on the web and will not: it needs a signed-in user.
The calendar year, holidays, sahit dates and your own events are cached on the phone, so the month grid and the day detail open on a plane or in a village with no data. The app re-syncs a year only when the server says that year changed.
Add friends by code or QR, share a group's occasions, and get a reminder for their birthdays too. Every sharing flag starts off, and nothing is shared until you turn it on.
Nepali FM stations, NRB exchange rates, gold and silver rates, and a loan EMI calculator are in the same app. Rates and radio also need no account.
The app and katigate.com read the same calendar: the same per-year BS month lengths, the same government-gazetted holiday list, the same panchang calculation and the same Panchang Samiti sahit dates. A date you look up here and the same date in the app will not disagree. What differs is what each surface can do with that data — the web is anonymous and read-only, the app can keep things for you.
Nothing. There is no paid tier, no subscription and no trial. The app carries ads, which is what pays for the servers, and a few screens offer a rewarded ad in exchange for an extra action instead of asking for money.
Android 7 and newer, iPhone and iPad on iOS 13 and newer. It is one download on each store, in Nepali and English, and the language switch inside the app changes every screen including notification text.
You can use most of the app without signing in. An account is needed only for the things that have to follow you between devices: saved kundali, custom events, reminders and friends. Sharing settings default to off and are never turned on for you. The privacy policy on this site is the same one the app follows.
No. The homepage and the today page both show today's Bikram Sambat date, the tithi and the next holiday without an account. The app is for reminders, widgets, kundali and offline use.
Yes. Reminders are scheduled with the phone's own notification system and fire whether or not the app is running. On some Android phones you have to allow notifications and exclude the app from battery optimisation for exact timing, which the app asks for on first setup.
Sign in with the same account on the new phone and your events, reminders and saved kundali come back. Data added while signed out lives only on that phone.
The app runs on tablets and iPads at tablet size. The month grid and the day detail use the extra width; it is not a separate app.
