Give it a date of birth in Bikram Sambat or in AD and it returns the age as completed years, months and days, plus the same span as total months, weeks, days and hours. It also shows the date of birth in both calendars, when the next Nepali birthday falls with a countdown, and the BS dates on which the person turns 16, 18 and 20.
A birthday in BS is the same BS month and gate each year; a birthday in AD is the same English date each year. Because BS months run 29 to 32 days and change length from year to year, the two anniversaries drift apart by a day or two. Someone born on 1 Shrawan has a BS birthday on 1 Shrawan every year, but the matching AD date shifts by a day around mid-July. Nepali offices go by the BS date of birth on the citizenship certificate, so the milestone dates on this page are BS anniversaries.
Completed age is the number of full years lived — the figure forms ask for. Running age (चालु उमेर) is the year a person is currently in, so someone 24 years and 3 months old is in their 25th year. When a form says "must not exceed 35 years", it means completed age: a person stays eligible up to the day before their 36th birthday.
Public Service Commission (Lok Sewa) adverts, school admissions and scholarship notices count age on a stated date — usually the last day to apply — not on the day you fill in the form. Set "Age on" to that date, in BS or AD, and the result shows the age the office will count. The next-birthday countdown and the milestones still run from today.
Three ages come up on almost every Nepali form. At 16 a person can apply for citizenship by descent. At 18 they can be listed on the voter roll, subject to the Election Commission's cut-off date for each list. The Muluki Civil Code 2074 sets 20 as the minimum marriage age for both men and women. Licence, retirement and service-entry ages depend on the vehicle class or the service, so check the notice itself for those.
Months are counted as calendar months, and when the birth day does not exist in the end month the anniversary moves to that month's last day. So 31 January to 1 March is one month and one day, not a negative remainder. The breakdown is computed on the AD dates, because a months-and-days figure needs the real length of each month in between; the BS dates are converted with the same tables the rest of the site uses.

The number of days lived is identical. What moves is the birthday: BS months change length from year to year, so your BS birthday can fall a day before or after the AD anniversary. For a day or two each year you can be a year older in one calendar than the other.
